MR. MERCEDES is now being adapted for TV.
The Audience Network—a division of US satellite giant Direct TV—has now ordered ten episodes starring acclaimed veteran actor Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, Calvary, the Harry Potter movies) as Detective Kermit “Bill” Hodges and Anton Yelchin (the new Star Trek, Hearts in Atlantis), as Brady Hartsfield. Executive producers David E. Kelley and Jack Bender will be will be writing and directing the first episode, respectively, with Kelley as showrunner.
David E. Kelley is the man behind television series classics like Ally McBeal, L.A. Law and The Practice and has long wanted to be involved in a King project. Jack Bender has a long distinguished list of directing credits, including Lost, The Sopranos, Under the Dome, and the devastating recent Game of Thrones episode, The Door.
Release is planned for 2018.
